Role
Concept development, trend research and visualisation
Year
January 2025 — April 2025
Tools
Photoshop · Sketching · Trend research
Context
Semester 2, period 3. The Industrial Design course focused on trend research and digital visualisation skills.
The assignment
Within the Industrial Design curriculum, the assignment was to design a product within the theme of quality of life: sport and leisure. The challenge was to develop a future-oriented health watch that not only measures data, but also responds to the growing trend of Digital Health and personalised care. This required attention to form, usability, technology and visual communication. The focus was also on clearly communicating the design through professional posters and visualisations.
The result
The final result is the MediWatch: a future-oriented health watch with innovative features such as:
- Advanced sensors (including heart rate, stress, oxygen, etc.)
- Holographic projection instead of a traditional screen
- Skin interface via vibrations and micro-electric feedback
- AI-driven health analysis
TOP: Own product looks great spatially
The approach & my role
I carried out this project independently, going through the complete design process. My approach consisted of:
- Conducting product and trend analyses (Digital Health)
- Researching form, material and use (via moodboards and underlays)
- Developing concepts and future scenarios
- Sketching and visualising the design
- Designing and iterating on posters based on feedback
A strong response to the assignment
The result is a strong response to the assignment because:
- The design aligns with the future of Digital Health and personalised care
- There is a clear link between research, trend and design choices
- The product is innovative (e.g. holographic interface and skin feedback)
- The design is well developed both functionally and visually
- Ability to independently complete a full design process
- Research can be translated into concrete design decisions
- Ideas can be communicated visually with impact
- Feedback can be processed and improvements made iteratively
