Role
Concept, research and visual development
Year
September 2025 — January 2026
Tools
Sketching · Research · Prototyping
Context
Semester 3, periods 1 and 2. Multidisciplinary project (with ESE students) in collaboration with Health Concept Lab and One Planet.
The assignment
The assignment was to develop a supportive aid for people with Parkinson's disease. The challenge lay in designing a product that helps in daily life without causing additional cognitive or physical strain. Many existing solutions are complex, fragmented or do not align well with the motor and cognitive limitations of users. The challenge was therefore to combine usability, technology and acceptance in a single product.
The result
The final result is a working prototype of an integrated aid with multiple functions:
- BuzzTag function (for finding misplaced items)
- Medication reminder
- Meditation and breathing function
That a second-year group manages to combine all of this and deliver a working product within a semester is truly extraordinary!
The approach & my role
The project was carried out using the Design Thinking method, with research, ideation, prototyping and testing at its core. My role within the project:
- Conducting analyses (user and form analysis)
- Documenting the complete process
- Designing posters and visual communication
- Developing the button module
A strong response to the assignment
The result is a strong response to the assignment because:
- The product combines multiple functions in one clear system
- Motor and cognitive limitations were taken into account
- The design is based on user research and testing
- The prototype actually works and has been tested with users
- Research can be translated into design
- Ability to collaborate in a multidisciplinary team
- Ideas can be developed into a concrete and working product
