Context
Semester 3 project in collaboration with the Health Concept Lab and One Planet.
The assignment
The challenge was to develop an assistive device for people with Parkinson's disease. The goal: design something that supports daily life without adding extra cognitive or physical burden.
Many existing solutions are complex, fragmented, or don't fit the motor and cognitive needs of users. The real challenge was to combine usability, technology, and acceptance in a single product.
The result
The outcome is a working prototype of an integrated device with multiple functions:
- BuzzTag feature (for finding lost items)
- Medication reminder
- Meditation and breathing function
That a second-year group managed to combine all this and deliver a working product in one semester is truly remarkable!
Approach & my role
The project followed the Design Thinking method, with research, ideation, prototyping, and testing at its core.
My role:
- Conducting user and form analyses
- Documenting the entire process
- Designing posters and visual communication
- Developing the button module
A strong answer to the brief
This project is a strong answer to the brief because:
- The product combines multiple functions in one clear system
- It takes motor and cognitive limitations into account
- The design is based on user research and testing
- The prototype actually works and was tested with users
